Sir, - A series of opinion polls should now be held in the other 14 countries of the EU. This would give the opinions of ordinary people, which would probably make more impression in this country than the views of politicians. If there is general approval of the treaty, we would not wish to stand in everyones way; if other countries follow our lead and reject it, there is a strong case for reconsideration. - Yours, etc.,
