Sir, – Ictu general secretary David Begg wants the Nordic model of economic and social development for Ireland, and Enda Kenny wants a leaner, smarter and better public service (Home News, November 18th). These fellows really ought to meet and discuss these synergies, and then translate these aspirations into tangible actions and results. There never should have been a “Boston or Berlin” debate to begin with: there should have been a Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo or Stockhom debate.

Afterall, the countries with these capital cities clearly share more similarities with Ireland, for example in terms of population size and geographical peripherality, than the USA or Germany. – Yours, etc.
