Sir, - By "pinko" does Charlie McCreevy mean "having some concern for the weak, the old, and unfortunate"? In this case, I hope most Irish people are "pinkos", and that they will make their feelings known by rejecting the present Government's taxation and public spending policies at the next general election.
Mr McCreevy's horse-racing, champagne and helicopter-tripsto-the-Continent lifestyle may blind him to hospital waiting-lists and similar minor details. Let's hope that the electorate has more compassion and vision, and that, finally, Irish politicians' blatant contempt for those they represent is voted out of office. - Yours, etc.
