Madam, - Speaking at the conference on "Ethics and Values in a Digital Age" at the weekend, the Archbishop of Dublin said: "Access to information is an essential dimension of the democratic process. It is curious to find that in most Western societies there is a growing corpus of law facilitating access to information, while at the same time there is a growing tendency to manage information which surrounds some of the more fundamental dimensions of governance and democracy."

Does Dr Martin expect people to respect his views on democracy when his own institution shows contempt for this process in the appointment of its own executives? As for "the growing tendency to manage information", his own institution excelled in this field during investigations into sexual abuse by some of its clergy.- Yours etc.,
