Sir, - I am sure that many of the Bank of Ireland's customers welcome the new program in their automated teller machines, which has greatly improved the speed with which transactions can be carried out.

Less welcome, however, is the manner in which the machines now insist on printing an advice slip for every transaction, regardless of whether one is required. Drifts of unwanted advice slips beside each machine presumably do not do anything to help eliminate Dublin's litter problem. Could the bank's programmers take another look at this? - Yours, etc.,
