Sir, - On a recent visit to my home city I looked up the Limerick FC website on the Internet and found some interesting nostalgic photographs of teams from the 1930s to the 1990s.

But judging by the introduction to one article, I thought I had strayed into another website which dealt with dramatic, monumental, historical events.

The piece started out by saying all Limerick soccer fans would remember 23rd November, 1963. I expected a "local" perspective on the assassination of JFK that day. I imagined that this article might be about how people at a match heard the dreadful news over the public address system. But no. It was about how a promising Limerick player suffered a serious injury in a game in Lansdowne Road.

So would it be true to say that everyone in Limerick remembers where they were when Mick Doyle broke his leg? - Yours, etc.,
