Sir, - With regard to the plastic bag levy, I have just risked life and limb to untangle a precariously balanced eyesore from opposite my house. On completion of this task, I felt 30 years younger. If I was a child, however, I think I might be looking for something more than the feeling of a job well done. Some hard cash, perhaps!
If a bounty of perhaps 10 cent a bag (or part of ) was placed on every plastic bag returned to designated centres, it might encourage us not only to stop littering but to actually clean up. Otherwise the 15 cent levy can only be seen as a cynical exercise in taxation. - Yours, etc.,
