Madam, – On Friday last, many institutions across Ireland took part in Culture Night. From what I saw, it was a great success and extremely popular with all ages. In light of this success, perhaps we could revise the opening hours of our national museums.
Many museums across Europe open late on Thursdays: could this happen here, to allow those who work during the day a chance to appreciate our historical treasures? And maybe it is time we extended the ridiculous Sunday opening hours. The full closure on Mondays should compensate for an extra full day, not three paltry hours. – Yours, etc,
