Sir, – It was with a certain amount of dismay that I read that premium rate calls will now be blocked from Leinster House (Home News, July 8th).
This is treating the symptom without treating the cause; if we do not trust the members of the Dáil to use their facilities properly, without abusing them, then how can we trust them to write our laws and govern our country? The answer to these abuses is not to limit the services available to TDs, but instead to only elect those who can be trusted to use them properly. – Yours, etc,
