Irish role in Kosovo mission

Madam, - It would be a tragedy if Ireland had to pull out of Kosovo because of the absurd situation we have imposed upon ourselves with the "triple lock". Why should Irish troops be sent abroad only on UN-mandated operations? It is not enough that the cabinet and the Dáil approve the deployment?

If Kosovo decided on independence, which is being endorsed by the European Union, but for purely narrow political reasons may not be endorsed by the UN, the Government could be left with no alternative but to pull out. End this foolish "triple lock" now. - Yours, etc,
