Irish: A living language is a spoken one

A Chara, – Further to Michael Doyle’s commments (Letters, April 2nd), I believe that if adults used the Irish they know, naturally, easily and proudly, young people would be encouraged to speak their cúpla focal too.

More parents of Gaelscoileanna pupils speaking some Irish would greatly help. We are not trying to replace English but to ensure that our native language, Irish, is not lost in our generation.
