Madam, - Patricia Greene (May 2nd) should not despair about the use of the participle "gotten". It is to be found in the King James version of the Holy Bible (Psalm 96, verse 1), a version first published in 1611 and still preferred by many Anglicans. I don't think that we can blame the use of "gotten" on the North Americans. - Yours, etc,
