Sir, – Gloria Steinem is quoted as saying in relation to abortion and the Eighth Amendment (Weekend Review, August 6th), "You can't control the body and flesh of a person. It's called slavery".
It is odd that it has not occurred to the pro-choice Ms Steinem that this is the very basis of the case against abortion. Once a new person has been created in the womb her body and flesh cannot be controlled – or, for that matter, put to an end at her mother’s wish. – Yours, etc,
