Madam, – Dr Phil Jones, suspended head of the Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia (the body that produced the data underpinning the arguments for man-made global warming), stated in a recent, remarkable interview with the BBC that the recent warming trend that began in 1975 is not at all different from two other planetary warming phases observed since 1850.

Dr Jones also stated that there has been no statistically significant warming since 1995 and it is possible the Medieval Warm Period was indeed a global phenomenon, thereby making the temperatures recorded for the latter part of the 20th century unprecedented.

He admitted that he and his fellow scientists adjusted figures to hide a decline in crucial tree-ring data, thereby questioning the validity of the entire global warming theory.

These are very significant statements that should be big news. The planet is not warming catastrophically! Why is The Irish Timesnot covering this story in more depth, showing both scientific sides of the debate?
