Madam, - As chair and vice-chair of the Maze Consultation Panel, we are writing to encourage your readers to take a unique opportunity to have their say in the future of the former Maze Prison/Long Kesh site.

The aim of our consultation is to bring forward innovative and sustainable development proposals so that this site, which symbolised the period of conflict, can become the engine for economic and social regeneration.

We encourage all ideas about the future of this highly significant and valuable regional development site that has become available under the UK government's Reinvestment and Reform Initiative.

It should be stressed that we are starting with a blank canvas. At this stage of the consultation, nothing is being either ruled in or ruled out. The panel is therefore keen to hear the widest range of views from the broadest representation of society and we will be holding a public consultation meeting in the Kings Hall Conference Centre, Balmoral, Belfast on Monday February 16th at 7.30 p.m. to which everyone is welcome.
