Madam, – Try as I might, I can’t remember seeing a film where a dog had its jaw blown off by a firework, yet this barbaric act of cruelty took place in Dublin last week. Jim Bruce (September 25th), a supporter of the banning of a violent film, wrote of “the power of visual media over human behaviour”. It is my opinion that people do bad things, and people do good things. The fact that one sees something on a screen does not cause someone to do it in reality. Otherwise would not everyone who has seen a James Bond film be a murdering, misogynistic sociopath? – Yours, etc,
