Sir, - Having read the feature article "The Forgotten People" (The Irish Times, January 18th) we wish to share the following.
Our organisations received an invitation from Mr Charlie McCreevy, Minister for Finance, to attend a consultative forum on the operational programmes of the National Development Plan 2000-2006, to be held on January 19th in Ballaghaderreen. The invitations arrived with us on January 18th, postmarked January 17th from the Department of Finance in Dublin. We wonder how serious the Government is about seeking the views of organisations residing in the region? - Yours, etc.,
