Sir, - I was delighted to be able to visit the first World War exhibition at Letterkenny Museum during September. A considerable amount of hitherto unpublished film was shown of the Irish regiments of that time in action in Flanders and elsewhere. The regiments of Ulster's 36th Division have always been well remembered in the North, but it would seem that the memorabilia from the counties now in the Republic has been hidden away hitherto.

The curator at Letterkenny has taken the lead and perhaps others will follow. Masses of regimental records, photographs, film and suchlike must lie mouldering in Government archives in the South, following the disbandment of the units, around 80 years ago. For example, who has got the material belonging to the Royal Irish Regiment of that time? It is not in the North or in England, with the exception of the War Diaries. Perhaps your readers could look at the back of cupboards and in the dusty boxes. - Yours, etc.,

Bill Meehan, Maldon, Essex.
