Fifty reasons (not to) love Ireland

Sir, –   I had to laugh at The Irish Times' s recent attempt to cheer everyone up by finding 50 reasons to be glad to be living in Ireland (Weekend Review, March 16th). Come on! Everyone knows it's a dark, dank, sodden isle. It's wet, windy, cold and violent. It's still rotten and corrupt to the core. And now that Fianna Fáil is again the biggest and most popular party (or was that a sick joke?), it's surely the most depressing place on earth in which to be holed up. – Yours, etc,
