Sir, - For 160 years, you marched to the sound of a different drum: you gave noble service to the Irish Nation - regardless of colour or creed - you gave magnificent medical treatment and unique nursing: your staff served in two World Wars and, in peace, they dedicated their lives to the people of Ireland.

A sadness has fallen on Dublin's Inner City. Dear Adelaide, you will never be forgotten by those of us who passed through your wards. A characteristic of truly great achievement is that it requires continuous dedicated service - you gave us that.
