Madam, - Why does The Irish Times persist in calling actresses "actors"?

Certainly most professions do not indicate gender - doctors, lawyers, journalists, etc - but in the acting world sex discrimination is absolutely necessary. The public certainly want to know who is male and who is female.

As the French say, "Vive la différence!"

If The Irish Times's extraordinary politically correct views are taken to a further logical stage, I expect to see the abolution of the words "mother" and "father"and their replacement by the non-sexist word "parent". - Yours, etc,
