Door-to-door fundraising

Sir, – In recent weeks the amount of people calling to houses in my estate asking for money for sponsorships has been astounding. Money does not grow on trees, and people would prefer to have a bit of peace and quiet to enjoy their summer holidays instead of having charities or schoolchildren calling around to people’s doors asking for money. There are many other ways of collecting money, and organisations such as the GAA and schools should stop harassing our children for money. Old people and families have had enough of it. The taxpayers have paid and suffered more than enough over the years. Enough! – Yours, etc,

LIAM DORAN,

Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
