Donegal byelection

Madam, – Let me just see if I have the sequence of events correct

Madam, – Let me just see if I have the sequence of events correct. First we are to have the Donegal South West byelection at the end of November with all the attendant party-political claims and counterclaims, but most significantly without the budget details.

A few days later we shall be deafened by the cacophony of outrage which will greet the budget announcement, and no doubt a measure of unrest in the streets.

Then in February or March we shall go through the whole rigmarole of two or three more byelections, to be immediately followed by the party political circus of a general election.

This really is an awful price to pay for Fianna Fáil’s ineptitude, and insatiable lust for power. Does the Taoiseach not understand his selfish behaviour is prolonging the agony for us all? – Yours, etc,

MIKE CORMACK,
