A chara, - Congratulations for publishing the thought-provoking article "Why?" by Kathy Sheridan (Weekend, December 1st). It should be mandatory reading for every driver, Dβil member and judge.
Such blunt writing is long overdue. There may be some who will object to the publishing of the horrifying facts, but too bad. No excuse should be tolerated. As Ms Sheridan says, many road deaths are not "accidents". Dangerous and unfeeling people are all too prepared to gamble with other people's lives.
I wish your efforts to bring home to both Government and all drivers the grim facts of drink-driving the success they deserve. - Yours, etc.,
