Sir, – Your article (“Wizz Air to end three Cork services”, Business, December 13th) claims Wizz Air discontinued three of its six Cork routes due to a drop in load factors after the launch of overlapping routes by Ryanair in November. In fact, Wizz Air’s load factor on all Cork routes dropped in line with any airline’s winter operations.

The Cork routes to Vilnius, Warsaw and Wroclaw have always met low demand and underperformed. Given the current overcapacity, it is commercially sensible to focus on other routes with higher demand instead. – Yours, etc,
