Sir, – Brian O Súilleabháin (August 5th) seems very sure that taoiseach John A Costello capitulated to the bishops in the Agricultural Institute dispute. I think it is at least as likely that he capitulated to his close associate Michael Tierney, president of UCD, who would have been bitterly opposed to the loss of his faculty of agriculture. –Yours, etc,
