Madam, - As a concerned parent of a five year-old son at primary school, I am writing to bring to everyone's attention a point dear to my heart, educational conditions for the future citizens of Ireland.

Every day in the newspapers and on the television we see horrific pictures of primary school buildings and pre-fabs with the following problems:

1. Structural defects with hazardous materials accessible to curious children leading to concerns for their safety.

2. Health hazards: Damp walls leading to respiratory problems. Poor toilet facilities giving rise to hygiene inadequacies and diseases. Vermin infestation.

As a disillusioned and very disheartened mother, I would like to know what the Government is doing with taxpayers' money. Do they even care that these children are the future of our country?

I implore the Government to invest time, money and resources into improving the conditions and circumstances in primary schools for our children. - Yours, etc.,
