Sir, - John McDwyer (August 7th) has a neck, as well as a sore elbow, if he thinks that his case for compensation is more justified than mine.

In 1939 I, with others in the GPO, applied to join the army. We were told, "Thank you very much, but your services behind the GPO counter are just as valuable to the country at this time", or words to that effect.

Now I find that I have been deprived of a possible opportunity for deafness compensation. I am confident that when this urgent matter is brought to the notice of the Minister concerned it will not fall on deaf ears. - Yours, etc., J. Roycroft,
