Madam, – Last month I paid an enormous amount in Income Tax. While “enormous” is a relative term, I merely comment that the amount demanded and paid was about 40 per cent more than demanded and paid the year before, on a fairly similar income. I paid it gladly, as part of my civic duty to help out builders, bankers, and our present government.
Imagine my surprise when recently I received notification that due to some miscalculation, I still owe Revenue the sum of 94 cent. If I do not pay it, the full rigours of the law will be applied. Truly, this is a great little country. – Yours, etc,
