Sir, – Rather than introducing legislation to ban smoking in parks and other outdoor amenities, perhaps the Government would serve the public interest better by enforcing the litter laws already in place.
As the brighter days of summer loom, a media campaign to remind people to be responsible and gently warn them of having to pay on-the-spot fines for doing otherwise would surely be more practical and beneficial. – Yours, etc,
