Sir, - Having lived in Australia for the past five years and having observed that country's Child Safety in Cars programme, I look around me in Ireland and am appalled and disgusted by the number of adults driving with children unrestrained in the front and back seats of their vehicles.
Are these adults really this selfish, or are they just ignorant of basic road safety procedures? Furthermore, I noticed that almost all the offending adults were wearing their own seat belts.
Shame on you all and may your luck hold out as far as your children's safety is concerned. - Yours, etc.,
