Sir, Thanks to another perverse decision by An Bord Pleanala, Bray's historic old Town Hall is to be handed over to McDonalds, the fast food chain, thus bringing the underprivileged citizens of Wicklow into line (bunburgerwise) with their more favoured neighbours to the North.
I note that the bord, with its customary zeal for orderly planning, has decreed that no advertising material should be applied to the exterior facade. McDonalds without the Big M? Surely there must be a better way.
I recommend that the company apply immediately for permission to demolish the cut stone archway at the entrance and replace it with the familiar and much loved plastic yellow logo. it could be illuminated at night (or at any rate, until 1.00 am), thus dominating the length of the High Street and beyond.
Councillor Joe Behan of Bray, UDC, who is reported to be "delighted" at the decision, could be invited to switch on the lights always assuming that he could find a place outside the building to park his official car? Yours, etc.,
