Madam, - Shelbourne FC Supporters Club were delighted to take part in the FAI initiative to bring back Eircom League fans to Ireland international games at Lansdowne Road. We joined with supporters of many other League of Ireland clubs on the North Terrace, adding a lot of colour and continuous vocal support to the team.

We believe that if you are going to wear a football shirt to an Irish football game, you should wear an Irish football shirt be it the national team shirt or that of an Irish football club. We fail to see the logic in wearing a shirt belonging to an English or Scottish team, but it's not our place to condemn other supporters' fashion style or confused sense of nationality.

However, we do condemn most strenuously the inane and misguided booing of the Georgian player Arveladze on Wednesday evening just because he happens to play for a certain Scottish team. Bigotry, racism and sectarianism have no place in Irish football. - Yours, etc.,
