Banks and their customers

Sir, – Last week I went into a local bank to obtain a cash float for an event of €170, mainly in notes, with just €30 in €1 and €2 coins.

Imagine my disbelief when I was told it wasn’t possible as I should have ordered them the day before! When I repeated how small the amount I needed was, the cashier reluctantly agreed to oblige. Then I was given €10 in 50 cent coins as they had no €1 coins! I did check on the way out and, yes, I was in a bank! – Yours, etc,
