Madam, - The recent RTÉ documentary, Stacking the Shelves, about the era of the commercial traveller, featured some archive footage of shop window displays of Irel Coffee and Royal Baking Powder - once upon a time every home had them!

Don McGuinness (July 24th) states that Irel Coffee is back - I would like to assure him and others that it never went away, just out of fashion.

It was manufactured in Kimmage for many decades right up to the late 1970s and since then is produced under licence in the UK.

No doubt the return of the days of home-baking may also be upon us again as well! - Yours, etc,
