Sir, - In response to some recent speculation in the Letters page on the topic of airline acronyms, perhaps you might indulge my flights of fancy in relation to the potential of the title of our national airline as an acronym?
I offer two suggestions which might be taken on board:
Airline Ever Responsive in Looking to Individual Needs Getting Unfailing Solicitude Airline Enterprise Relying on Large Injection of National Grant aid to Underpin its Solvency.
While the first suggestion might take off as a good slogan, I hope that the second one (somewhat of a sting in the tail but, nevertheless, not a flight from reality) will not land me in turbulence with some of my friends who work for the airline. I would hate to be grounded in Coventry for airing my views! - Yours, etc.,
