Madam, - Surely, apart from the obligation of placing advertisements for the positions of chief executive and head of finance, the Football Association of Ireland should be instructed to make public the exact disbursement of the €70 million paid over by the Government on behalf of taxpayers since 1997.

What were the amounts written off in respect of the Eircom Stadium and numerous golden handshakes to dismissed executives? What amounts did each of the clubs in the 26-county leagues receive? What was the exact cost of running the various matches at Lansdowne Road? What were the annual costs since 1997 for Merrion Square?

Likewise, what were the revenues received for those years from the matches held in Lansdowne Road, ticket sales etc and what monies received from the various TV and Radio organisations? Surely fans and indeed taxpayers have a right to have this information. - Yours, etc.,

BOB WADDELL, Sandycove, Co Dublin.
