Sir, – In response to Seamus O Dunlaing’s letter (February 2nd), I am pleased to say that Greystones is indeed just as fortunate as Bray in terms of the delights awaiting the pedestrian. The generous coating of chewing gum on Church Road (our main street) has also been transformed by the recent weather into a medley of unsullied whiteness.

But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Rather than Mr O Dunlaing’s vision of walking on snow-white seagull guano, I see these beautiful dapples as a cascade of fragrant white rose petals welcoming people to the many restaurants and other delights of this charming town. – Yours, etc,

ROBERT DAVIDSON,

Burnaby Mews,

Greystones,

Co Wicklow.
