Madam, - Is it ironic or just plain stupid that the premature lighting of the Christmas tree in Dublin is described as a call to "civic patriotism" by the Lord Mayor to encourage shopping in Dublin city, when the very same (artificial) tree is designed in, and imported from, France ( The Irish Times, November 3rd)? Should civic patriotism not start at home? Words fail me, sometimes. - Yours, etc,
