A decade of commemorations

Sir, – I see that a commemorative coin is to be issued this year to mark the 90th anniversary of Michael Collins’s death.

Arthur Griffith founded Sinn Féin, led the Irish delegation in the Treaty negotiations and was president of Dáil Éireann and head of the post-Treaty government. He died of exhaustion at the age of 50, in the same month as Collins.

I hope that his contributions to independence and peace in Ireland will be commemorated alongside the exploits of his younger colleague. – Yours, etc,

Avenue Louise,

Brussels, Belgium.
