Sir, – The “dump and run’' technique, whereby canvassers ring the doorbell, dump the leaflet and run for the next drop, presumably to avoid being hit with the truth by the electorate, is on the rise.

You don’t even get the chance to remind them that avoiding the truth at all costs, in any shape or form, only guarantees that being sandbagged or handbagged instead by reality later in the proceedings is going to be an awful lot worse. – Yours, etc,
