Focus on wrong scandal

Nama’s €6 million loss deserves scrutiny

Sir, – While not questioning the need for a thorough examination of RTÉ's financial management, it seems to me that we are focusing media attention and political scrutiny on the wrong scandal.

Joe Brennan’s article “Nama sells loans to debtors’ relative at 97.5 per cent discount” (July 13th) highlights how Nama incurred a loss of €6 million because of “an alleged campaign of intimidation”. If this is true, surely this is a greater scandal? Will Nama’s financial management and decision-making criteria now receive the same media attention and political scrutiny? – Yours, etc,

MIKE RIORDAN,

Co Kerry.
