AN ARTICLE in yesterday's edition, concerning a new head of the Garda Press Office, stated that the Press Office reports directly to the Garda Commissioner.

In fact, the press office reports to the Garda Commissioner via the director of communications. Current staff complement at the press office includes one superintendent, one inspector, six sergeants and four civilians. The sergeants and civilians work a shift rota from 7.30am to 11pm. The new head of the press office is Supt John Gilligan from Cork.

• A report on November 19th last, concerning the prospective Northern Ireland Attorney General, John Larkin QC, described Mr Larkin as a "former DUP adviser". Mr Larkin points out that at all times he was instructed as a barrister and as counsel for the DUP and at no stage advised them in any private capacity.
