A youth accused of two handbag snatches within 15 minutes in Dublin last Monday was refused District Court jurisdiction and remanded in custody yesterday.

Mr Christopher Warren (21), of St Theresa's Gardens, Dublin 8, is charged with robberies from middle-aged women at Blackhorse Avenue and College Grove, Castleknock. Garda Paul Curtis told Dublin District Court it was alleged the defendant, along with another man, drove up in a car to snatch the bags and a total of £150 worth of cash and goods were taken.

He claimed the defendant was chased by gardai and arrested in gardens at Lower Cabra Road. Judge Miriam Malone refused jurisdiction and remanded the defendant in custody for one week for service of a book of evidence.
