Youth injured in Dublin knife attack

A teenager is recovering in hospital after he was injured in a knife attack in Dublin yesterday.

A teenager is recovering in hospital after he was injured in a knife attack in Dublin yesterday.

Gardaí on patrol in Fairview Park, just north of the city centre, encountered the 17-year-old with what appeared to be a stab wound to his abdomen shortly after 9pm.

The injured man, who is from the city centre, was taken by ambulance to the Mater hospital, where he underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

The scene of the assault is preserved for technical examination and a search of the area will take place to try and locate the weapon used.

Gardai and detectives were on the scene this morning and part of the park fronting on to the Malahide Road was cordoned off with tape.

Gardaí in Clontarf have appealed for information.
