A member of the national executive of the Vintners' Federation of Ireland has called on the public to object to the introduction of alcoholic drinks aimed specifically at the youth market.

A Galway publican and Western Health Board member, Mr Val Hanley, said parents should be aware that television advertising for certain drinks was aimed directly at young people.

Mr Hanley complimented the Minister for Health, Mr Martin, on the National Alcohol Awareness Campaign which highlights the increase in the consumption of alcohol among young people and points towards healthy lifestyle choices.
