Moscow - President Yeltsin yesterday agreed with the Russian Prime Minister, Mr Sergei Stepashin, that two first deputy prime ministers should share responsibility for the economy.

Mr Yeltsin has given the Finance Minister, Mr Mikhail Zadornov, extra responsibilities for the economy, ending days of speculation. Earlier in the week, Mr Yeltsin had appointed Mr Nikolai Aksyon enko as First Deputy Prime Minister with economic responsibilities.
