Mr David Wright, father of murdered LVF leader, Billy Wright is to meet representatives of the British government later this month to discuss the circumstances of his son's death in the Maze Prison in December 1997.

Speaking in Portadown yesterday, Mr Wright said he had been informed that a meeting had been arranged with Minister of State, Mr Adam Ingram, on Wednesday, September 22nd, at Castle Buildings, Stormont.

"It has taken me almost 21 months to secure any form of meeting with the government," said Mr Wright. "Until now, I have constantly been ignored by those in a position to answer the serious and alarming issues that have come to light as a result of my own investigations into my son's assassination.

"I intend to make full use of this meeting with Mr Ingram to press for a public inquiry.

"New information has recently come into my possession. This clearly shows that all the facts about my son's death have not been placed in the public domain. I believe that was a deliberate decision, taken for political reasons," continued Mr Wright. Mr Wright refused to give details of this "new information", other than to say it was "extremely significant" in relation to evidence presented at the inquest into his son's death in February.

"My son's death was a political conspiracy. He was used, abused and murdered by the state," added Mr Wright.
