Woman survives 34 hours trapped in Kildare bog

A woman is recovering in hospital in Dublin after surviving for 34 hours in an upside-down car submerged in a bog.

A woman is recovering in hospital in Dublin after surviving for 34 hours in an upside-down car submerged in a bog.

An air pocket is believed to have saved Ms Lisa Landau after her car swerved off a road near Ashford, Co Wicklow, on Saturday evening.

She was not found until yesterday morning when a local man noticed the overturned car and alerted the Garda.

An emergency call was received shortly after 9 a.m. and gardaí, the fire service and an ambulance travelled to the scene.

When they arrived on the scene they noticed movement inside the car and realised somebody was trapped inside.

After being removed from the car, Ms Landau was taken at St Colmcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown where she is being treated for pneumonia. She is said to be in good spirits.
