A 21-year-old woman has been released without charge in connection with an attack on another woman in Dublin city centre last weekend in which a large section of the victim’s nose was bitten off.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 23-year-old injured woman from Blanchardstown has since undergone corrective surgery in which cartilage and skin was taken from other parts of her body in an effort to rebuild the missing part of her nose.

The incident occurred on the street close to Tara Street train station on George's Quay in the south inner city at about 2.30am last Sunday.

The victim and her alleged attacker had earlier exchanged words in a nearby pub.

The suspect was arrested at her home in Ongar, west Dublin, yesterday morning.
